1 John 2
John writes to his readers as a father to his "little children," and I hope you'll hear his pastoral care as we study the passage.
John lovingly reminds us of two things:
His grace doesn't excuse our sin; but it does free us to turn from it and walk with Him.
Running through the entire chapter is one of John's favorite words: abide. It means to remain, to dwell, to make your home somewhere. Like a branch drawing life from the vine, we're invited not just to visit Jesus on Sundays but to live in Him every day, trusting Him, listening to Him, and loving one another. And the good news is that as we abide in Him, He abides in us.
Whatever this week has held for you, whether weariness, struggle, or joy, come as you are.  I'd encourage you to make a few quiet minutes today or before service to read through the chapter and ask the Lord what it might look like for you to abide in Him more deeply starting right now.
