Every day we're surrounded by voices telling us we need something more—more discipline, more rules, more effort, more spirituality—to finally become the person God wants us to be. Even as Christians, it's easy to begin believing that Jesus is only the starting point, and that the rest somehow depends on us.
But Paul says something radically different.
He reminds us that the fullness of God dwells in Christ... and that in Christ, we have already been made full.
We'll discover together that:
- You don't have to keep striving to earn God's acceptance.
- You don't have to carry the weight of your past any longer.
- You don't have to keep paying a debt that Jesus has already paid in full.
We'll also see one of the most beautiful pictures of the gospel in the New Testament—that every charge against us was nailed to the cross with Christ, and the enemy who once accused us has already been defeated.
If you're tired from trying to "do enough" for God, I believe tomorrow's passage will be a tremendous encouragement.
If you've been battling guilt, shame, or the feeling that you'll never measure up, come expecting to be reminded of the freedom that belongs to everyone who is in Christ.
And if you're walking closely with the Lord right now, this passage will deepen your confidence that Jesus really is enough.
Take a few minutes today to read Colossians 2:8-15, ask the Lord to prepare your heart, and pray that He would use His Word to strengthen our church and draw people to Himself.
